Stephen Hawking Says Beware of Aliens They are Real and Dangerous
April 26, 2010
One of the smartest men on Earth astrophysicist Stephen Hawking has spoken out against trying to communicate with aliens. He's worried that they might not be as friendly as we hoped and could pose a potential threat to humanity's existence.
As when any advanced society encounters a less advanced society, the less advanced is almost always wiped out, even if unintentionally. Hawking said it is likely that alien life exists, but a visit from extraterrestrials might be similar to Christopher Columbus' arrival in the Americas.
"If aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when Columbus landed in America, which didn't turn out well for the Native Americans," he said. "We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn't want to meet."
With the sheer numbers of planets in the universe and space, he mentioned that it's almost impossible for us to be the only planet with intelligent life. Hawking also thinks they may use huge ships that the aliens live on after using up the resources on their own planets and may be looking for a new home.
Hawking who is very respected in his field released this information to a new Discovery channel documentary.
